AMMO Heavy Chipping Effects (AMMO of Mig Jimenez)

AMMO Heavy Chipping Effects is a ready-to-use weathering product from AMMO of Mig Jimenez intended for pronounced paint flaking and for imitating a heavily worn or corroded surface on plastic models. Unlike finer effects, it makes it possible to create large and deep flaked areas where the coat underneath or bare metal shows through. It is not a kit and not a covering paint but an auxiliary chipping fluid that is activated with water. The product is odorless and water-thinnable. The bottle holds 35 ml.

Use

• Apply to the model the base (lower) color that is meant to show through in the flaked places, typically a shade of metal, rust or an older finish.
• Over the dried base, brush on a coat of Heavy Chipping Effects and let it set.
• Apply the top color over it (an acrylic is best).
• Once dry, damp the place with water and flake the top color away with a stiffer brush or a toothpick, which gives pronounced, larger chips and areas of exposed base.
• The degree of the effect can be governed from partial flaking to extensive corrosion; it suits vehicles, equipment and machines in demanding service.

It will be appreciated by modelers who want to show heavy wear and flaking paint on military vehicles, industrial machinery or weathered vehicles. The chipping technique with water activation is easy to follow and easy to control even for the slightly advanced builder.
