The Master Tools single blade sprue cutters serve to separate plastic parts cleanly from the frame (the sprues). One jaw is flat and the other carries the cutting edge, so the cut runs close to the part and leaves a minimum of the gate to clean up. That reduces the risk of whitening the plastic and shortens the sanding. The cutters are meant for plastic, not for metal or photo-etch.
