Hobby Diamond File Set is a five-piece set of files with a diamond abrasive surface, one hundred millimeters long. Heller placed it in its line of modeling tools for work with plastic and with harder materials.
A diamond surface removes material faster than one expects, so on plastic a light pressure and short strokes are enough. Pushing hard makes no sense; it only fills the gaps between the grains and the tool stops cutting. After every part, therefore, clean the surface with a stiff brush. It is best to file from the thin edge inward so that the edge does not break off. Do not breathe the dust that comes off the plastic or the resin, and wipe the work surface with a damp cloth instead of blowing on it.
It will serve during the building of plastic kits and in places where sandpaper would follow the shape too readily and round off what should stay sharp. Which profiles the set contains is stated on the box; reach for the one the shape of the part allows. The length of one hundred millimeters is a compromise between reach and control: for a long seam the tool is long enough, and yet it can still be worked in the confined space of an interior or an engine bay.
