About product

DSPIAE Hobby Sanding Sponge 1500 grit, 3 mm (5 pcs)

A set of five flexible sanding sponges in soft EVA material in a very fine 1500 grit. It is one of the finest grits in the usual modeling sequence: it is used for the final smoothing of a surface, for sanding between individual coats of clear and for preparing a silky-smooth base before polishing. The flexible body 3 mm thick follows curves. The sponges can be cut to the size you need and used dry or wet, and with a grit this fine wet sanding is the usual choice.

Use

  • Final smoothing of the surface before polishing or the final clear coat.
  • Sanding between individual coats of clear with no risk of rubbing through.
  • Refining small blemishes on an already painted surface.
  • Use dry or wet; the sponge can be cut as needed.

Who they are for

  • Modelers working on a high gloss and smooth painted surfaces.
  • Builders of cars, Gunpla and figures.
  • Anyone who wants a perfect surface before polishing.

This is a modeling abrasive. The 1500 grit is very fine and serves for finishing, not for removing material. We recommend protecting your airways while sanding.

FAQ

The 1500 grit is finer. It is used only for final smoothing and for sanding between coats of clear, whereas 1200 serves for smoothing the surface before painting.

It prepares a smooth base before polishing. The polishing itself is then done with a polishing compound or an even finer abrasive.

With a grit this fine wet sanding is the usual choice; it limits clogging and refines the result.
