An oval plastic base measuring 90 x 52 mm in a transparent build. A model or figure is glued to it and gains a stable stance from it; a whole unit or collection then looks uniform and the model can be picked up without touching the paint. In tabletop games the base has a second role as well: it marks out how much room the figure takes up on the playing surface, and distances are measured from its edge, so the size is a significant figure.
Transparent plastic suits places where the base should stay unobtrusive, that is on a printed or glass playing surface, with hovering and flying pieces, and with water scenes, where a water surface can be suggested across the base. The hollow designation says that the base is not solid; with bases of this kind the space beneath it is used to hide a magnet or ballast. The exact build of the bottom is stated on the box.
For players and collectors who want their figures and models standardized on the same type of base, and for builders of scenes where the footing should show as little as possible. Finish the surface of the base before you glue the model to it.
