Journeyman Miniatures - Kaeliss the Silent

The real subject

Kaeliss the Silent is a fantasy character from the Journeyman Miniatures line. It is a collector's figure intended to be assembled, painted and displayed, not a gaming accessory for a tabletop game. It is precisely with individual characters that work with the face, with the folds of cloth and with the difference between metal, leather and wood on a single piece can be shown well.

Before the build

First lay the parts out and try dry how they fit together; only then reach for the glue. Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder gently, so that no hollow forms in the surface. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Before painting, wash and degrease the figure, as paint does not hold on a greasy surface and peels off during handling.

Painting tips

The tried procedure leads from a primer to thin coats. A heavy coat floods the fine relief and the drawing disappears from the face and from the folds of the clothing. Build the shadows and the highlights gradually and let each coat dry through. Small things such as the eyes, the buckles and the grips are easier to paint while the figure is still laid out in parts and nothing shades your hands. Finally unify the surface with a protective varnish according to the degree of sheen you want. If you seat the figure on a display base, think it through already during the build, so that the feet or the base bed down with no gap.
