COLLE21 is a brand built on cyanoacrylate glue and on the related chemistry and aids: an activator, a remover for cured glue and precise applicators. The complete set designation corresponds to the fact that it is a package covering this circle of needs at once, instead of buying the individual items. For the modeler who builds from resin, photo-etched parts and accessories and does not want to put his gluing together item by item. Cyanoacrylate glue is a necessity with detail sets today: cement for plastic has no effect on resin or on metal, and without a quick joint small parts are seated only with difficulty.
Both have their place on the bench and they are not interchangeable. Cement for plastic melts the surface of polystyrene and literally welds the parts together, so the joint is as strong as the material itself; it works only on plastic, though. Cyanoacrylate melts nothing, cures between the surfaces as a hard film and will join practically anything, including resin, photo-etched parts, wire and clear parts. The price for that is lower resistance to twisting and impact, which is why loaded joints are strengthened with a pin. Cyanoacrylate glue can also be used as a quick filler: a drop completed with a sprinkled powder and sanded through fills a gap better and faster than a classic filler.
Cyanoacrylate glues bond skin instantly and their fumes irritate the eyes and the airways. Work in a ventilated room, keep out of the reach of children and have a remover for cured glue at hand.
