The V-33 Stork Carrier is an injection-molded plastic kit from the Kyoukai Senki series, which is also known internationally as Amaim Warrior at the Borderline. The model is built by the Japanese company Bandai with snap-fit technology, so the parts are nipped off the sprues, cleaned up and snapped together, with no glue. The sprues tend to be molded in several colors of plastic.
According to the name this is a carrier, that is a transport machine, support equipment that in mecha worlds carries combat machines and supplies. That makes a welcome change, because most sets of the same series are combat machines themselves, while this model adds a transport element to a scene. The subject is not real equipment but a fictional design, so what is judged is the silhouette, how finely the surface is broken up and any articulation of the mechanisms. Whether the machine can be joined with particular other models of the line is something the instructions in the package will tell you.
Cut the large areas of the load-bearing structures off carefully a little from the part and finish the edge with a knife and a sanding sponge. With transport equipment spraying is exactly what pays off: a primer evens the undercoat out, a matte varnish suppresses the sheen of plastic and extensive areas are brought to life by a light overspray of a lighter shade from above. Do the weathering sparingly and with purpose: a dark wash into the engraved lines, chipping of the edges with a dry brush, dust and mud on the running gear areas. If you add another machine of the same line to the model, match the shade and the degree of wear, otherwise the two will not go together in a display case.
