Liquid Pigments DARK GREEN DUST

What it is

A liquid pigment for the final treatment of a surface. Against a loose pigment it is already mixed into a carrier liquid, so it does not create dust, it can be picked up with a brush and once dry it leaves a dusty layer on the model. The Dark Green Dust shade is aimed at the dark green deposit that clings where it is damp and there is little light.

Where it is useful

On the lower parts of hulls and on the waterline of ships, on concrete and brickwork in a diorama, into the corners and seams where water runs down, on wooden parts in shade and on abandoned vehicles that have stood in undergrowth for some time. It also works well as a second layer over brown or gray dust, because the green tone sets damp dirt apart from dry and the scene stops looking monochrome.

How it is applied

Shake the bottle thoroughly before work; the pigment settles to the bottom and unstirred it will lay down nothing but the carrier liquid. Apply it with a soft brush onto a flat surface; on a glossy finish it holds worse and runs. Let it dry and only then take the excess off with a dry brush or a cotton bud; wipe in the direction water runs down the real machine. Build the thickness of the layer up gradually, as taking dried pigment away is more work than adding more. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. On a test piece of plastic, check first how the shade looks on that surface once dry, because a wet deposit always looks darker.
