A photo-etched detail set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard for a model of the German Fokker D.VII biplane in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for sharpening and enlivening the interior and the exterior of a matching plastic model. The set contains fine etched parts that replace or complete simplified plastic components.
Etched parts bring the model a fineness that injection-molded plastic cannot reach — thin interior and instrument elements, seat harness, hardware and small exterior details. The Fokker D.VII was among the best fighters of the First World War; it was powered by an inline engine, and its rugged structure with good performance at altitude made it a respected opponent in the closing year of the war, 1918. The open cockpit leaves a good deal of detail in plain sight, so fine photo-etch pays off.
The set is an accessory to the build; on its own it does not make a model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
