The photo-etched M109A7 Paladin 1:35 set is intended for adding detail to a model of the American M109A7 self-propelled howitzer. It is not a vehicle kit but an accessory for a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of photo-etched parts serves for building up a model of the M109A7 self-propelled howitzer in 1:35 scale. Modern hardware has a great many thin elements on its surface that injection-molded plastic cannot manage: grilles, eyes, loops, brackets, covers and steps. It is exactly these details that the set replaces in thin sheet, which gives a model a part thickness correct to scale and makes it look markedly finer. It is used as an addition to, or a replacement for, the parts of the base kit.
The M109A7 is an American tracked 155 mm self-propelled howitzer, the newest member of the long M109 development line. Compared with the older versions it received a new chassis and a modernized electrical system, while the basic layout with a rotating turret on a tracked chassis was retained. The vehicle serves as artillery support working together with tracked units, so it has matching mobility and cross-country capability.
With a self-propelled gun it pays to finish the running gear and the internal parts before the hull is closed up. Cut the photo-etched parts out close to the tab, sand the edge down and make the bends in a bender or over a steel rule. Degrease the metal with alcohol and lay on a thin primer, or the paint will not hold. Apply cyanoacrylate with a pin in small drops. Once the base color is painted, washes into the recesses come next, and pigments for dust and mud effects last; on artillery vehicles the weathering concentrates mainly on the tracks, the fenders and the lower part of the hull.
