MATT EFFECT THINNER

AK Interactive Matt Effect Thinner — a Thinner with a Matte Effect, 100 ml

This is a special modeling thinner from brand AK Interactive, from the Abteilung 502 line, in a 100 ml bottle. It is not a paint or a varnish — it is a helper product that does two things at once: it thins oil paints, washes, and filters, and, thanks to a flattening agent in its formula, it also flattens the sheen of the resulting effect to matte. This eliminates one step in the process — the weathering does not need to be oversprayed later with a matte varnish to lose an unwanted glossy film.

The thinner is odorless and has a very fine, smooth consistency, which helps washes and filters spread evenly without leaving sharp edges. It is designed for working with oil paints and synthetic (enamel) washes and filters.

Use

• Thinning oil paints to the desired consistency for filters, washes, and blending.
• Thinning ready-made enamel washes and filters — reducing their intensity while also ensuring a matte result.
• Mixing your own filters and washes from oil paints — a few dots of paint into the thinner, and the glaze is ready.
• Removing excess fresh oil weathering — a brush dampened with the thinner wipes off the excess while also softening the effect.
• Always shake before use. Because of the flattening agent, particles can settle in the bottle; shaking easily dissolves and mixes them back in.

Who it is for

For modelers who weather with oil paints and enamel products and want the result to come out matte right away, with no additional varnishing. It is especially appreciated by builders of military vehicles, dioramas, and figures, where a matte surface is the natural goal.

Safety note: this is a solvent-based thinner. Even though it is odorless, work in a well-ventilated space, away from open flame and sources of sparks. Do not ingest, avoid contact with the eyes, keep out of reach of children, and always close the bottle carefully after use.
