MDF Bases - Round 27 mm (Legion) is a circular MDF gaming base 27 mm in diameter for an infantry figure in a tabletop battle game.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a gaming base for a figure, not a display plinth for a cabinet. In tabletop battle games the diameter of a base is a binding figure: movement and reaches are measured from its edge and the spacing of models in a formation is held by its footprint. That is exactly why bases cannot be swapped for one another at will. The abbreviation MDF in the name refers to the fiberboard the piece is cut from, and the designation (Legion) refers to the size standard by which the whole range is graded. A diameter of 27 mm is among the smallest in this range and matches individual infantry models.
Bases 27 mm in diameter usually carry individual infantry figures, that is the type of model a player has most of in a collection. With large numbers it is worth keeping one uniform size across a whole unit, because otherwise the spacing is thrown out and the models do not sit in formation. Fiberboard is practical in this respect: bases from one production run have an identical outline, so a unit looks of a piece on the table.
For players of tabletop battle games who are standardizing the bases of their infantry models, adding new figures to a collection or looking for a replacement for a damaged piece.
