MDF Hex bases 75 mm is a gaming base in the shape of a hexagon measuring 75 mm, made from MDF board. It is the largest size in this range and is aimed at genuinely large miniatures. It is not a model and not an accessory for a model but equipment that gives a figure a stable and uniform footprint. Behind the label stands the Spanish firm Green Stuff World, known for its range of bases, materials and aids for tabletop games and modelers.
The taller and heavier a figure, the more a wide base matters: the model then rocks less and holds upright better even while being carried about a playing surface. The hexagonal shape is chosen for games whose board is divided into hexagonal spaces: the base fits a space over its whole area and the gaps between figures stay regular. Precise spacing is exactly what sets a gaming base apart from a display base, with which the look is what chiefly decides.
The number of pieces in the package, the thickness of the board and the surface finish can be read from the manufacturer's information on the packaging. It is worth checking them before ordering.
