A modeling file from the Japanese brand Mineshima with a round section. A round file is a tool nothing else in a set replaces: it suits everywhere a hole, a circular opening or a concave shape has to be worked, that is, where neither a flat nor a half-round file can reach.
Where it comes into play. On cleaning up and slightly widening drilled holes, on thinning and rounding the openings of exhausts and air intakes, on working recesses for landing gear legs and pins, and on smoothing inner curves after cutting or drilling. It serves well when fitting resin parts into plastic too, where material is often taken out of a hole bit by bit.
For modelers who build from plastic and resin and need to handle circular shapes and holes reliably. The word Medium is the maker series designation; further sections are available in the same Mineshima series, so a set can be extended gradually.
The length of the file, the material, the coarseness of the cut and the form of the handle are stated on the packaging. With materials harder than plastic and resin, proceed carefully and do not breathe resin dust in.
