Eight acrylic paints from AK interactive for the American four-color MERDC scheme, including white for the winter variants. All the shades with FS codes.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MERDC system came about in the middle of the 1970s as an answer to the question of how to cover different seasons and climatic zones with a single group of colors. Instead of one fixed pattern it brought a table of combinations in which the same eight shades meet again and again. Those are exactly the contents of this package, the white for the winter variants included.
Every variant rests on two main tones, which take up most of the surface, and on supplementary colors forming smaller blotches. For forest in summer a dark and a light green were used, for a dry zone an earth yellow and sand, and winter schemes added white. Brick red appeared where the soil has a high iron content. The pattern served on American equipment until the middle of the 1980s.
Eight bottles is an above-average extent within the brand's range, as uniform and vehicle sets usually have six. Every shade is given a Federal Standard code, so it can be traced with other manufacturers as well. Anyone building American equipment in several variants of the pattern at once will manage with a single package for the whole group of models.
