This item is not a model or an accessory set but a specialist publication. The publisher is the Polish house Kagero, whose aviation monographs are among the most used references for modelers. As the marking in the name suggests, this is the second part of a treatment of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 E fighter.
The Bf 109 E, nicknamed Emil among airmen, was the first version of the famous German fighter powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine with fuel injection. It was exactly that engine which gave the aircraft the performance with which it became one of the best fighters in the world at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. The Emil went through the fighting in Spain, the campaign in Poland, the campaign in the west and the Battle of Britain, where it met the Spitfire and the Hurricane and where its main handicap, its short range, showed itself in full. Later subversions added the ability to carry a bomb and a drop tank, which turned a pure fighter into a ground-attack aircraft as well. In the E variants the Bf 109 entered service with a number of other countries.
The title is the second part of the monograph and concentrates on the combat use of the Emil in the individual campaigns. For a modeler it is a source of context thanks to which a model becomes a particular machine of a particular unit rather than just a type on a shelf.
