Master Tools - a mirror plinth for a model

This is neither a model nor a kit but a display base. The plinth has a mirror top surface on which the model stands. The reflection shows the underside of the model - the landing gear of an aircraft, the armament under the wing, the running gear of a vehicle or a ship's propeller - without your having to lift the model. At shows and competitions it is a common way of making the details you have invested work in accessible, details that would stay hidden on an ordinary base.

Use

• Displaying a finished model in a case, on a shelf or at a competition.

What to watch out for

Compare the dimensions of the plinth with the footprint of your model; the exact measures are stated on the box. The mirror surface is sensitive to fingerprints and scratches, so handle it by the edges and clean it with a soft cloth without aggressive solvents. If the model stands on wheels or tracks, reckon with the smooth surface being slippery; when carrying it, hold the model rather than not.
