Autumn larch with a tall trunk, height 230 to 270 mm

A finished handmade scenery tree for dioramas and layouts. It is not a kit — the tree arrives finished and painted, and all it needs is planting into a base. The height runs around 230 to 270 mm, the trunk is tall and the crown sets in only in the upper part, the way a larch grows in a closed forest canopy. The autumn version means needles in golden and ocher tones, that is the state a larch has at the turn of October and November, just before the needles fall.

The real subject

The larch is the only common European conifer that sheds its needles for the winter, and that is exactly why its autumn coloring is so striking — it blazes gold among the evergreen spruces and pines. The trunk grows straight with little taper, the crown is airy and more open than a spruce's, and the needles grow in small bundles on short shoots. In the landscape it is plentiful in mountain and foothill positions and in managed forests.

Placement tips

Drill a hole in the base, plant the trunk and fix it with cyanoacrylate or modeling filler, then hide the root flare with filler and litter. An autumn larch works best in contrast — place it among trees with dark green crowns or among bare broadleaf trees. Spread fallen golden needles at the foot, so that it is clear the tree is shedding. In a group, mix different heights and put the tallest pieces at the back. Keep the seasonal logic of the scene: an autumn tree does not belong with fresh green spring grass.
