Mr.Paint Gray RAL 7000 — acrylic modeling paint, 17 ml

This product is a modeling paint, not a kit. It belongs to the Aqua line of the Slovak maker Mr.Paint and it is a water-thinnable acrylic, that is different chemistry from the lacquer line of the same manufacturer. It is thinned with water or the manufacturer's acrylic thinner, it is not aggressive to plastic and it is gentler to work with than solvent-based paints. It comes in a 17 ml dropper bottle, is mixed to a consistency for the airbrush and is usually sprayed straight from the bottle. It dries to a satin surface that takes decals and weathering.

What RAL 7000 means

RAL is a German industrial system of color shades — a standardized scale by which coatings are ordered in engineering, construction and transport. The number RAL 7000 designates a particular gray (in the original German terminology Fehgrau). It is important to understand what RAL is and what it is not: RAL defines a shade, not a period or military classification. Take this product as a precisely defined gray according to a standard — usable anywhere you want a shade that is reproducible and identical across purchases.

Use

• Airbrush: usually with no further thinning; depending on pressure and nozzle it can be thinned with water or the manufacturer's acrylic thinner.
• Brush: suitable for smaller areas and touch-ups; for large areas an airbrush is better for the sake of evenness.
• Gray covers well — you will usually manage with fewer coats than with saturated colors.
• Also suitable as a neutral technical shade for models of vehicles, machinery, accessories and dioramas.
