A Hataka modeling paint from the Orange Line in the gray shade Neutral Grey to the number FS 36173. Suitable for brush and airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
Neutral Grey is a neutral gray tone with no marked color cast, carried under the number FS 36173. The abbreviation FS refers to the American Federal Standard, the system of numbers by which shades were ordered and compared. The number is therefore a more reliable guide than the trade name alone, because the same name carries a slightly different tone from one maker to another.
The paint comes from the Orange Line by Hataka. Thin it with the thinner intended for this line and in the ratio the manufacturer gives on the packaging. Shake the bottle properly before every use, so that settled pigment is stirred back in, otherwise the shade will shift between the first coat and the last.
Gray shades are sensitive to the base, so apply them over a unified base coat. Cover in several lighter coats, so that fine surface detail stays legible. Try the pressure setting and the thinning out on a piece of scrap plastic rather than straight on the model.
Builders of aircraft and vehicles who work to shade numbers and need a tone that can be bought again in the same form a year later will appreciate it. A neutral gray also suits as a base under shading and as a ground for grading surfaces.
The paint alone is supplied in a bottle. The thinner, a brush and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
