A modeling paint from the Hataka Orange Line range, carried under the manufacturer's part number HTK-C032. Ocean Grey is a name that everyone who builds British fighters of the Second World War knows: it was what the gray component of the Royal Air Force day camouflage scheme was called, where it formed the upper surfaces together with the green. How exactly the shade turns out on your model is still worth comparing against the color chart of the manufacturer or against the specification in the kit instructions, because the name alone gives no standard reference.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use; settled pigment will otherwise shift the final tone toward the lighter side. The thinner intended for this range and the thinning ratio are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging, so keep to those instructions. Apply several light coats instead of one heavy one and let the surface flash off between them. Wash and degrease the substrate beforehand: on a greasy surface the paint pulls back and lifts during masking.
Gray is treacherous in how strongly the surrounding light acts on it: under a bulb it looks warmer and in daylight cooler. So spray a test sample on a piece of scrap plastic and look at it in the same light in which you display the model. A primer coat unifies a substrate made of plastic, photo-etch and filler, so the shade comes out the same everywhere. Spray the boundary between two camouflage fields at reduced pressure and lay the masking tape only on a cured coat.
The paint is supplied on its own. Thinner, brushes, airbrushes and kits are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
