Landing gear bay plugs for a model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 K in 1:32 scale from Kotare. They cover the open bays for the time of spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
During painting the landing gear bays are open holes in the middle of the surface you are spraying. Paint always finds its way in, and what stays inside is overspray in the color of the underside, which does not belong there and is hard to remove. A plug fills the opening for that time, so the inside of the bay keeps the color you gave it earlier and the edge of the fairing comes out crisp.
The Bf 109 K is the last production version of the German single-seat Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter, and it reached combat in the very last stage of the Second World War. In 1:32 scale the model is large and the landing gear bays on the underside of the wing are clearly visible, which applies to their cleanliness just as much as to their detail. According to the name the set is tailored to the kit from Kotare.
Finish and spray the bays first and only then fit the plugs, that is always before spraying the outer surfaces, never after. They should sit in the opening by themselves and without force; any excess is better sanded down slightly than pressed in. Once the paint has dried, take them out carefully, ideally with tweezers or a wooden stick, so that the edge of the finish does not peel. They do the same service during sanding and filling, when they keep dust out of the bays.
For modelers who object to overspray in interior spaces and do not want to line the bays laboriously with masking tape every time. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
