The real subject

The Opel Manta 400 is the competition version of the Manta coupe, a car built for special stages and not for showing off in a salon. On circuits and on gravel it was made famous by its angular shape with widened fenders and by the varied liveries of the individual teams. A model built from a kit gets its identity only from the decals, as the shape of the body is the same on all the versions.

What the sheet offers

The sheet brings motifs for the competition version under the designation Escuderia Drago. The decals complete a kit of the Manta 400, which you obtain separately. Go through the extent of the motifs and their placement according to the manufacturer's data, and compare the large areas against the body dry before you wet them, so that you know how you will lead them over the edges.

How to apply the decals

• The paint under a decal has to be smooth and glossy, otherwise silvering will appear.
• Cut the motif out close to the artwork and soak it for a few seconds in lukewarm water.
• Let it rest aside until it begins to move on the backing paper.
• Move it into place, straighten it and blot the excess water away with a cloth.
• A softener will help the decal settle into engraved lines and over rounded shapes.
• Once dry, go over the area with a clear coat, which will bury the edges.
