Eduard Ovals

A universal photo-etched template from the Czech manufacturer Eduard. It is not a kit but a modeling aid — a thin metal plate with precisely etched oval openings of various sizes. It serves as a guide when scribing and forming oval panel openings, access covers and caps. The set has no set scale and comes in useful on aircraft, vehicles and ships across the usual modeling scales.

Use

• Lay the template on the surface of the model and trace the chosen oval shape with the tip of a knife or a scriber.
• Use the openings as a guide for suggesting or cutting out oval covers and caps.
• It also serves for tracing shapes accurately when masking and spraying.
• Hold the metal down with a finger or masking tape and work with light strokes from the edge.

Who it is for

It will be appreciated by more advanced modelers who scribe missing detail themselves, add oval access covers or repair a surface after filling and sanding. Because it is universal, it serves again and again on many different builds regardless of scale. Oval openings come out accurate and symmetrical, which is otherwise hard to achieve by hand, and the template can be used over and over on a series of builds and for repairing a surface after filling and sanding.
