Paint Set - Blood Moon

Paint Set - Blood Moon: a ready palette for one mood

Paint Set - Blood Moon is a themed set of paints from Green Stuff World. A themed package works differently from a selection by individual shades. You are not buying a color, you are buying a mood, that is a body of tones that together create a particular atmosphere and hold it across everything you use them on.

Why an atmosphere cannot be put together piece by piece

A uniform look across a collection is made not by one successful color but by the relations between them. When a palette is assembled gradually, every addition is chosen by whatever happened to suit at the time, and after a year the shelf looks stitched together from accidents. A ready themed set is the opposite: you have a limited number of tones that go together, and it is precisely that limit that unifies the result. Experienced painters impose such a limit on themselves voluntarily, because it forces them to look for solutions inside the palette instead of making another purchase.

How to make use of the set

• Keep to the small palette even where a color from outside would suggest itself; unity is more valuable than accuracy.
• Mix the intermediate tones from what you have in the set.
• Choose one tone as the leading one and repeat it on every piece; the collection then holds together.
• Shake the bottle before work, the pigment settles to the bottom.
• Apply the paints thinly and in more coats.

Who the set is for

For figure painters and diorama builders who want their work to look like one world, and for anyone who likes to impose creative limits on themselves.

Keep out of the reach of children, work in a well-ventilated room.
