Paint Set - Orcs and Goblins

Paint Set - Orcs and Goblins, a paint set for fantasy figures

A set of water-thinnable acrylic paints by the Spanish brand Green Stuff World, put together thematically for orcs and goblins. It is aimed at tabletop games and fantasy figures, where painting revolves around the green tones of skin and the brown tones of leather equipment and metals.

Use

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use; acrylic pigment settles to the bottom and unmixed paint covers unevenly.
• Apply thin coats to a figure: two light coats hold the detail better than one heavy one, which floods the features of the face and the equipment.
• Work in the classic order: primer, base tones, shading with a flowing paint into the hollows, then lightening of the edges with a dry brush.
• It is thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same chemistry; always thin the paint for an airbrush.
• Unify a finished figure with a matte varnish, which protects the paint during play and handling.

Who the set is for

For players of tabletop and board games who paint their own army, and for modelers of fantasy figures and busts. It also serves well as a starting palette for diorama scenes with fantasy themes, where green and earth tones are the foundation.

With figures for tabletop games it pays to stay with a simple process and to raise the contrast rather than the number of shades. Green skin looks best when it has a dark shadow in the folds and a lighter cast on the forehead, the cheekbones and the muscles, while the equipment stays in subdued brown and metallic tones. An army painted with a single palette then reads as a whole even on the gaming table.

Check the particular shades, their number and the volume of the bottles on the box. Store the paints closed and out of the reach of children.
