Wood and Bark paint set, 6 shades of 17 ml

A set of six acrylic paints in dropper bottles of seventeen milliliters, put together around the brown and earthy tones of wood and bark. It contains the shades Mustard Yellow, Scorched Wood, Dark Beige, Coyote Brown, Ranger Green and Sandstorm. The point of the set is that the shades go together: wood cannot be painted with one color, it needs a base, lighter grain, darker joints and something to pull the whole thing together.

• wooden crates, pallets, planks and furniture
• the bark of trees and roots on dioramas
• the stocks of weapons and the wooden parts of equipment
• earthy and sandy surfaces on bases

How to make wood out of the paints

Start with the basic tone over the whole area. Once it has dried, draw thin irregular streaks of a lighter and a darker color over it in the direction of the grain, best of all with a half-dry brush, and then pull the whole together with a dark seeping coat that runs into the joints. Pick the edges out with a dry brush. Shake the bottles before use; the acrylic is thinned with water and is applied with a brush as well as with an airbrush. With wood it holds that irregularity makes it convincing; regular streaks look like wallpaper.
