A textured sheet 0.75 mm thick with grooves every 1.21 mm in the 15 x 30 cm format. A medium grid suitable for decks, floors and cargo beds.
Responsibility details are not available.
A groove distance of 1.21 mm lies between the finest and the coarsest member of this family, and that is exactly why it is used most often. The texture is pronounced enough to be seen once painted, and yet dense enough not to look coarse. On a model it creates the impression of closely laid floorboards.
It does most of its work horizontally. The floor of a truck cargo bed, the bottom of a trailer, the boards of a loading platform or the deck of a smaller vessel are surfaces where the texture shows at first glance and where gluing individual strips would be very slow. Once varnished with the joints darkened, the surface reads as worn wood.
Many kits have a smooth cargo bed, because the mold did not allow boards to be molded. Cutting a floor out to the outline and gluing it inside is a matter of a quarter of an hour and the difference shows at once. A missing hatch, a ramp set against a gate or a footbridge across a ditch are solved the same way, that is, parts that are not in the box and are missing from a diorama.
The boards are brought to life by going over every second or third one with a different tone of brown, or by cutting a notch into some of the grooves with the point of a knife. A thin wash follows, settling in the joints. A sheet measuring 15 x 30 cm gives enough material for a couple of attempts to go wrong. Trying the painting procedure first on an offcut is more sensible with wooden surfaces than going straight to a part that is meant to show on the model.
