This set of scenic figures from the American manufacturer Woodland Scenics captures figures in mid-stride. The figures are finished, assembled and painted, so both gluing and painting fall away. Pedestrians are among the most universal figures of all, because you can use them on a platform, on a sidewalk, in a square, by shops and in a park. It is precisely people in motion that tell a living layout from a nicely built but empty backdrop.
Lay them out so that they make sense as a whole, that is, along natural routes rather than evenly over an area. Pedestrians should be heading somewhere it is possible to get to. You sink the base into the terrain or sand it down and glue the figure with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue. The finished colors are deliberately strong, so that they can be seen in scale. If they bother you, you unify them with their surroundings with matte varnish and a fine dusting of pigment. Watch the direction of gaze as well, because figures looking the same way as a visitor to the layout close a scene off visually, whereas those turned into the space open it up.
For HO layout modelers, builders of dioramas and collectors who want to populate a scene quickly and do not want to spend evenings painting figures.
The figures are finished and painted; it is not a kit. They contain small parts and are therefore not suitable for small children.
