Self-adhesive Artwox Model wooden deck strips 2.2 mm wide serve for laying planking by hand on ship models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This sheet from Artwox Model is sold as a material, not as a made-to-measure product. The name gives the dimension 2.2 mm and the designation sticker, that is a self-adhesive finish. The strips are laid one at a time and a deck thus comes about in much the same way as it did on a real ship.
On wooden vessels the planks were never laid so that their ends lay in one straight line. The joints were usually offset by three or four rows, which produced a regularly stepping pattern. When you suggest it on a model, the surface immediately gains a credibility that a molded groove cannot offer. It also helps to suggest the darker caulked gap with a soft pencil along the edge, before you lay the strip down.
Trace the shape of the area onto paper and try the layout as a dry run. A strip once laid is hard to take off and a light surface bears that treatment for a long time. Work in good light falling from above, so that the shadows between the rows are visible while you work. It pays to keep the offcuts: they come in useful for repairs and for the next build.
