Plastic CLEAR Square Hollow Base 40mm

A clear square base 40 mm with a hollow underside

A transparent plastic Green Stuff World base of square shape, 40 mm along the side. It is not a model or a part of one but a base onto which a figure or a miniature is glued. The clear material means that on a game board or in a display case the base optically steps back and the attention stays on the figure.

What the hollow underside is for

The base is not a solid block but has a recess underneath. A magnet for holding it to a steel transport box can be hidden in it, or a weight to stabilize a taller figure, or the routing of a wire if you are combining the base with lighting. The cavity also saves weight and leaves room for modeling terrain from above.

Use

• Clear plastics are harder to glue, so degrease the joint and roughen the area with fine sandpaper.
• For the joint between figure and base, cyanoacrylate glue works well, supplemented with a wire pin on larger figures.
• If you want to keep the base transparent, do not spray it with primer and paint only the figure.
• Glue the magnet into the cavity from below and cover it over with a thin sheet of plastic, so that it does not fall out.
• A transparent surface easily goes dull from fingerprints, so handle the base by its edge.

Who the base is for

For wargamers and collectors of miniatures who need uniform square bases, and for modelers who want to present a figure without a visible base. It also suits use as a quick replacement for a damaged or missing base from a game.

A figure, glue, magnets and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Check the number of pieces in the package on the packaging before buying.
