A white polystyrene sheet 0.75 mm thick in the 15 x 30 cm format. Material for bulkheads, floors and all the surfaces a model needs to have added.

Seven tenths of a millimeter is a thickness worth keeping in stock all the time. The sheet already holds its shape and does not sag under its own weight, and yet it can still be divided with an ordinary modeling knife. The surest way is scoring: the tip of the blade is run along a steel ruler several times to make a groove and the material is then snapped over the edge of a table. The cut comes out straight and without the ragged edges that appear when you simply cut all the way through.
Its uses start with repairs. A missing bulkhead in a cargo compartment, a sunken cabin floor or a hole left after a molding has been sanded away is filled with a piece cut out to a paper template. From there it is one step to whole structures: the sides of superstructures, the beds of trailers, the framing of dioramas, support boards under terrain, or the boxes and lockers a kit does not include.
The sheet bonds with other styrene profiles into one whole. A proven procedure is to build a skeleton from strips and then skin it with a surface cut from the sheet, because the joint between two identical plastics practically disappears once liquid cement has wicked into it. The surface sands, scribes and polishes, so planking or sheet metal joints can be suggested in it.
The white shade makes it easier to check filling and does not distort the paint applied later. It pays to keep the offcuts left after shapes have been cut out, because narrow offcuts make braces, shims under uneven joints and the small wedges that hold a part square while it is being glued. It is sold as single sheets, so you can put the thicknesses of material together according to what a build needs.
