A black, opaque polystyrene sheet one millimeter thick, measuring roughly fifteen by thirty centimeters. The package contains two sheets. The manufacturer's black range is resistant to ultraviolet light, so the surface does not yellow even after extended exposure to light. The dark color also blocks light and does not need repainting if a part is meant to stay black.
Score the sheet several times along a straightedge and snap it over the edge of a table, then true up the edge with a file. The cut will show a lighter break line that stands out clearly on a black surface, so sand it smooth and, if needed, darken it with a marker or paint. When gluing large areas, apply adhesive over the whole contact surface and weight the sheet down so the joint does not warp. Every fingerprint shows on a black surface, so it is worth working in gloves.
When cutting, work with a sharp knife on a cutting mat and avoid inhaling sanding dust.
