Purple pollen for flowering bushes

The fine loose powder suits everywhere a flower and not just a patch of color is to be visible on a model. It is applied onto fresh glue brushed over the tips of foliage and once dry it holds like a tiny crown. The manufacturer recommends the purple shade for fuchsias, cranesbill and other perennials with a cool flower.

The jar holds 29.4 cm³ of material, which corresponds to 1.8 cubic inches. The grain is so small that it works even in small scales, where ordinary turf would look coarse, and at the same time it is enough for a large garden scene, because it spreads over an area in a thin layer.

A procedure that has proved itself

First build the mass of the bush or the crown, then coat it lightly with thinned white glue, and only then sprinkle. Once dry the excess is tapped back into the jar and nothing is lost. Anyone who wants only a hint of flowers sprinkles dry through a fine sieve; anyone who wants dense growth repeats the application twice in a row.

Purple goes well with white and light pink, so smooth transitions inside a single bush can be mixed from several shades. In a photograph the crown then does not look like one flat area but like a cluster of individual flowers.

What is inside

The package is raw material for building greenery. It does not contain the mass of the plant, glue or a supporting armature for the bush; those are bought separately. The material is colored throughout, so it does not fade in light and takes subsequent fixing with thinned varnish.

Anyone building window boxes or small tufts at the foot of a wall will manage with a few grains. It is at details like these that you can tell a scene was not made from green paint and a scrap of moss alone.
