PS51 Purple Anodized Aluminum Spray

Tamiya PS51 Purple Anodized Aluminum, a 100 ml spray

PS51 is a purple effect shade from the PS spray line of the Tamiya brand. The PS line is developed for the polycarbonate bodies of RC models and it is sprayed on their inside, so the outer surface of the body stays smooth and protects the paint. The package holds 100 ml.

The shades labeled Anodized Aluminum are translucent and imitate colored anodized metal. The purple from this group looks deep and dark where a reflective base sits behind it, and conversely flat and weak if the base is missing. Planning the order of the coats therefore matters more with this paint than with an ordinary covering shade.

Use

• First plan out which areas will stay in the metal effect and which will get a different color.
• Degrease the body from the inside and let it dry completely.
• Shake the can considerably longer than an ordinary paint so that the effect particles are mixed in.
• Spray thin coats at a distance of roughly 20 to 30 centimeters and let them flash off.
• Once you have the tone you want, add a reflective silver base from the inside, otherwise the effect will not come out.

Who it is for

The spray suits RC modelers building striking show bodies, custom schemes and accessories where colored metal is meant to be visible. The PS line is not suitable for polystyrene plastic kits.

Flammable aerosol under pressure. Work with good ventilation or outdoors, with respiratory protection, away from sources of ignition. Keep the can away from heat, do not pierce it and do not burn it.
