The second volume of a monograph on the Polish multipurpose helicopter PZL W-3. A reference publication for modelers and for anyone interested in postwar Polish aircraft production.
Responsibility details are not available.
The PZL W-3 is a twin-engined multipurpose helicopter designed and built in Poland, the first machine of its kind that the industry there managed from design through to series production without a license. It first flew at the end of the nineteen seventies and has served since then in the army, with the police, with rescue services and in civil operation, and not only at home: a number of foreign users took the machines, neighboring countries among them. Over four decades versions arose for search and rescue, a naval variant, an armed version and specials for mountain service, so this is a type with an unusually broad register of forms.
A monograph of this kind usually picks up where the first volume left off and turns to further versions, users and their color schemes. For building a model that is the most valuable part: without documentation on a particular machine a helicopter easily becomes a generic silhouette with no story. The publication thus brings together what a modeler otherwise collects photograph by photograph from various sources.
It will be appreciated above all by builders of aircraft models who want certainty in detail and in colors, but also by readers with an interest in the postwar history of aviation in central Europe. The extent, the language of the edition and the number of illustrations are not documented in the available information for this title, so treat them as an open question, not as a promise.
