Print Scale RAF Medium Sea Grey strips is a sheet of waterslide decals in the British shade Medium Sea Grey, intended for creating camouflage fields, strips and transitions on aircraft models without spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of decals by the manufacturer Print Scale in the British shade Medium Sea Grey. They are not national insignia or technical stencils: they are colored strips with which camouflage fields, boundaries of shades or identification stripes are created on a model, without it being necessary to mask and spray. The manufacturer does not state a scale for this line; the strips are used as the particular model requires.
Medium Sea Grey is among the basic British aircraft shades. From the start of the 1940s it was used on the lower surfaces of day fighters and, in combination with darker shades, on the upper surfaces as well; it also appeared on fuselage bands, rudders and spinners. That is exactly why it suits places where it is not a matter of continuous camouflage but of a narrow colored stripe, which is hard to do with an airbrush.
Waterslide decals hold reliably only on a smooth glossy base. First spray the surface with a gloss varnish, therefore, and let it cure thoroughly. Dip the decal briefly, leave it to rest on its paper until the backing releases, and slide the strip into place. Soak the excess water up with a paper towel and apply a softener, so that the decal settles onto the engraved lines and the rivets. Lay longer strips down in shorter sections, so that the material does not ripple. Once dry, varnish the model with a matte coat, so that the edges are closed over and the surface unified.
