The sand beige carried under the designation RAL 8031 F9 is one of the shades of German military vehicles. It is used where vehicles received a single-color finish for a dry and dusty setting, that is, instead of the three-color scheme that modern German vehicles in Central Europe are used to. The shade is light and warm, so on a model it needs a counterweight in shadows and in dust, otherwise the surface looks dead.
Stir the contents thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles while standing. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, that is, the thinner intended for this range. Apply several thin coats and let each one set, because one thick coat drowns the details and the corners of the parts. With light sand shades it pays to lay down a darker base first and to spray the paint so that it shows through in the seams and around the rivets.
It will be appreciated by builders of modern military vehicles who want a shade matching the real subject and do not want to mix it. It will also serve in building dioramas, where the same shade ties the vehicle, the crates and part of the gear together.
