Light blue RLM 65 in its 1938 form, an acrylic paint from the Real Colors line in a 17 ml package. The shade of early-period Luftwaffe undersides.
Responsibility details are not available.
RLM 65 is one of the best-known numbers in the German aviation swatch book. It is a light blue that appeared on the undersides of Luftwaffe aircraft from the second half of the 1930s and forms the base of the classic early scheme with dark upper surfaces. The year in the name distinguishes this earlier form of the shade from the later variant, which the line offers separately.
Most often on the underside of the fuselage, wings and tail surfaces. On some aircraft the light blue was carried high up the fuselage sides, so the boundary with the upper camouflage lies above the level of the wing; check the exact course against the drawings for your specific kit. The shade also serves for touching up spots sanded during construction and for finishing small parts that get glued onto the undersides only at the end.
The paint is supplied in a 17 ml volume. Do not pour leftovers from the mixing cup back into the bottle, or contamination will get in. Thinner, primer, varnish and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on the package for thinning, cleaning tools and storage. Work in a well-ventilated room and keep the bottle tightly closed and out of the reach of children.
