Six oil paints in tubes aimed at corrosion and earth tones. The slow drying of oil allows a coat to be spread and blended long after it goes on, which is decisive with rust and running streaks.

Oil differs from other modeling paints in one property, and that decides everything else: it dries slowly. While an acrylic is out of play in a few minutes, an oil stain stays workable for hours. The builder can spread it, pull it to one side, lighten it with thinner or wipe it off altogether and start again. That is exactly what anyone needs who wants rust to look settled in over time rather than like an orange dot stuck on the surface.
The set of six tubes covers the whole range of corrosion and the dirt around it. The lightest tone is a dusty shade for dry deposits and faded surfaces. Then comes a bituminous black-brown for the darkest nooks, oil stains and shadows under projections.
The middle of the palette is held by two classic earth pigments. A dark brown of industrial earth serves as a universal darkening tone and a base for dried mud. Red ocher represents fresh, still light rust of the kind that appears on scuffed edges shortly after the finish is damaged.
Burnt sienna shifts the corrosion into a deeper, older shade for a long-neglected surface. The range is closed by a clean red, with which the richness of the other tones is adjusted and which also suits markings and small details. The paints are thinned with mineral spirits or a thinner meant for oils and are applied with a brush, not with an airbrush. The rest of the paint stays usable in the tube for a very long time; it is enough to clean the thread after every session so that the cap does not stick.
