An airbrush accessory from the manufacturer U-STAR. It goes onto an airbrush and changes the form of the spray: instead of a continuous fine mist, a coarser, irregular mark appears in the form of splashes and spots. It is an accessory for effects, not a substitute for ordinary spraying.
Irregular splashes are exactly what is hard to achieve in hand painting, because the hand unwittingly creates regular patterns. They find a use anywhere a surface should look marked by service: mud thrown onto the running gear and fenders, spots bled out on the underside of a fuselage, hints of corrosion and uneven wear. For a modeler who has so far relied on flicking a brush, it is a considerably more controllable route to the same result.
The result depends on the combination of pressure, how the paint is thinned and the distance from the surface. That is exactly why you should always try the effect on a test piece first, not straight on a finished model. The effect is hard to remove, so work in layers and preferably lightly: you can always add, but practically never take away. After finishing, clean the attachment and the airbrush carefully, as the thicker paint used for effects dries quickly.
