Spray Chameleon Psychotic Illusions from Green Stuff World

An effect spray from the Chameleon range. The name of the shade promises no particular tone, and rightly so: the whole range is built on the perceived color changing with the angle of view and with the light falling on the surface. The can is ready to spray, nothing is thinned and you do not need an airbrush for it.

What is worth knowing in advance. With this type of paint it makes sense to see a sample in the flesh before you spray it onto a finished model. Spray a test patch onto a scrap part or onto a plastic card, let it dry and look at it in daylight and in artificial light and from various angles.

How the spray is applied

• Shake the can for at least a minute. Effect pigments sink to the bottom and without mixing a blotchy layer comes about.
• Spray from a distance of roughly twenty to thirty centimeters, in a smooth pass, starting and finishing off the model.
• Apply thin layers in several passes. The effect is then built up gradually and the surface stays smooth.
• Let the can and the model come to room temperature, because cold and damp do the quality of the coat no good.
• After work, turn the can upside down and blow the nozzle through briefly.

The base decides the outcome. Under an effect paint every unsanded mark and greasy fingerprint stands out, so smooth and unify the surface first. Try a coat of varnish and masking with tape in advance on an offcut, because an effect layer may not take to them.

Who the spray is for

It is a choice for science fiction and fantasy models, wargaming miniatures, display bases, accessories and custom work, where the surface is meant to draw attention. For faithful historical camouflage an effect paint is not suitable.

A pressurized container. The contents are flammable. Spray outdoors or in a well ventilated space, away from open flame and sources of sparks, do not breathe the aerosol in and protect your eyes and skin. Do not expose the can to direct sunlight or heat and do not pierce it. Keep out of the reach of children.
