A hollow brass section with a square cross section 1.6 mm on a side from Albion Alloys, in a package of one piece. It is a material for building, not a kit. Compared with a solid section it has two practical advantages: for the same stiffness it is lighter, and wire, a pin or a small axle can be threaded through the cavity, so the tube doubles as a bushing.
Cut the tube with a fine modeling saw and turn it as you go, so that the wall is not squashed; sprue cutters are not suitable here, because they deform the section. Remove the burr inside with the tip of a drill or with a needle file. The joints can be soldered with tin solder and flux, which is the most reliable option with hollow sections, or glued with cyanoacrylate glue or epoxy. Before painting, degrease the surface, key it with fine abrasive and apply a primer for metal, otherwise the paint rubs off the edges of the smooth brass.
For modelers who make their own parts, for builders of layouts and dioramas and for anyone who needs a strong post or a bushing with an exact square section.
The material is supplied unpainted. Glue, solder and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
