A trio of oil paints in bottles that have a thin brush built directly into the cap. The shades Yellow Bone, Red Tile and Space Purple are aimed at the painted markings of starships and robots.
Responsibility details are not available.
Oil paints dry by oxidation, not by the evaporation of a thinner. A modeler thus has tens of minutes in which to blend a fresh mark out, lighten it, or take it off completely with a cloth and start again. It is precisely this pliability that makes an oil paint a tool for smooth transitions of the kind that are hard to find with an acrylic from an airbrush. The bottle carries bristles in its cap, so the paint is picked up straight from the container and does not have to be squeezed out of a tube onto a palette.
Yellow Bone is a faded bone yellow of the kind found on warning stripes and formation numbers on machines that have stood in dust for a long time. Red Tile matches a muted brick red without any hint toward orange, so it holds up on warning triangles and on unit insignia alike. Space Purple is a saturated violet which on a gray or metal hull looks as though it had been mixed under an alien star. Together they cover the three colors that builders of space machines reach for most often when it comes to painted markings.
Inside there are three bottles of ten milliliters. The paint is thinned with mineral spirits, and the thinner the mixture you prepare, the more likely it is to become a shading wash settled in the panel grooves. It is applied onto a perfectly dry varnish, best of all onto a smooth surface, because a roughened surface holds the paint more firmly and is harder to wipe it off. Before a shade even touches the model it pays to draw a drop off onto a piece of paper: oil drawn out of the binder shortens the drying and the application then leaves no glossy ring. Cotton swabs and a cloth for wiping are not part of the package.
