What it is

This is neither paint nor a model but scenic material: fine fibers 2 to 3 mm long with which grassy growth is created on dioramas, bases and terrain models. According to the name the package holds 200 ml. The Scorched Brown shade is brown and corresponds to dry, parched or burnt vegetation; it suits summer and autumn scenes, the dried-out edges of paths and areas where drought is meant to show.

Use

• first coat the area with grass glue or thinned PVA glue
• apply the fibers with an electrostatic applicator, as they then stand upright and the growth looks alive; without an applicator the fibers lie down and the area looks flatter
• work in smaller areas, so that the glue does not dry in the meantime
• once dry, knock the excess off or vacuum it up carefully and use it again
• mix lengths and shades, because a uniform area of one grass looks artificial
• the finished growth can be fine-tuned with a light mist of paint or with a dry brush

Who it is for

For builders of dioramas and scenic bases in any scale: a length of 2 to 3 mm is short, so it serves well as low growth, trodden grass or a base into which longer fibers and tufts are then set. The brown shade is rewarding as a complement to green areas, because it is precisely the transition between dry and living grass that makes terrain believable.

The volume of the package follows from the name of the product. Keep the fibers dry and out of reach of children; static grass is easily stirred up once poured out, so do not work with it in a draft.
