STREAKINGBRUSHER GRIME: enamel streaking effect from AMMO of Mig Jimenez

STREAKINGBRUSHER GRIME is a ready-made enamel, solvent-based weathering product that dries matte, in a 10 ml bottle with an applicator brush right in the cap; the longer bristles let you draw long, narrow vertical lines. It is a modeling chemical product, not a kit and not a covering paint. The Grime shade is a universal dark, greasy tone of general dirt, the most used in the line and ideal as a first one.

What streaking is

Streaking means the vertical traces of running grime, dried water, oil and dirt down the sides of equipment. They appear where rain runs over the surface and washes off settled dirt: under rivets, around hatches, below exhausts, on the sides of a hull.

Use

• Apply onto a fully cured varnished surface: the layer underneath has to be hard.
• With the brush from the cap, lay down short vertical strokes from top to bottom, always starting from the source of the dirt: a rivet, the edge of a hatch, a weld.
• Let it become tacky for a few minutes: fresh lines look too strong, and that is in order.
• Moisten a clean brush with enamel thinner (mineral spirits), wipe it on a cloth and blend the traces from top to bottom until they soften and look natural.
• Work in layers: twice lightly rather than once heavily.
• The advantage of the brush in the cap: it is applied directly, with no palette and no mixing.
