About product

STREAKINGBRUSHER WARM DIRTY GREY - a warm dirty gray from AMMO of Mig Jimenez

STREAKINGBRUSHER WARM DIRTY GREY is a ready-to-use enamel (solvent-based) weathering product with a matte finish in a 10 ml bottle with an application brush right in the cap. This is a modeling chemical product, not a kit. The shade is a warm dirty gray leaning towards brown and beige - the color of dust and dry grime.

What streaking is and why the temperature of the shade matters

Streaking means vertical marks of running grime, dried water, oil and dirt down the sides of vehicles - under rivets, around hatches, below exhausts, on the sides of the bed. Warm versus cold dirty gray is the key decision: the warm one (towards brown) says that the vehicle ran in a dusty, dry environment - desert, steppe, dirt roads. The cold gray (the separate shade COLD DIRTY GREY, towards blue and green) matches damp and cold - rain, the sea, winter mud. The choice of shade decides whether the model looks as if it came from the desert or from rainy Europe.

Use

  • Work on a fully cured painted surface so that the thinner does not attack it.
  • Apply vertical strokes from top to bottom - with the dusty shade rather shorter and broken marks.
  • Let it set for a moment, then draw a clean brush moistened with enamel thinner from top to bottom and blend the marks into a wide soft veil - dry dust does not form sharp lines but blurred areas.
  • Work in layers and build the tone up gradually.
  • The brush in the cap means it is applied directly, without a palette and without mixing.

Who it is for

For modelers of tanks and vehicles in desert service, of aircraft from dusty airfields and for diorama builders working with earth and sand. If you are building a vehicle for rain and winter, reach for the cold dirty gray.

Safety: contains flammable organic solvents. Work in a well-ventilated area, away from open flame. Do not inhale the vapors, protect your airways, skin (gloves) and eyes. Keep out of the reach of children.

FAQ

The warm dirty gray leans towards brown and beige and evokes a dry, dusty environment - desert, steppe, dirt roads. The cold dirty gray (the separate shade COLD DIRTY GREY) goes towards blue and green and matches damp, rain, the sea, winter mud and concrete. The choice of shade decides where the model has been.

Yes, and it is recommended. Real grime is not one single color - layering warm and cold gray over each other gives an irregularity and depth that one color alone cannot reach.

With a clean brush moistened with enamel thinner, in strokes from top to bottom. With the dusty shade, blend the mark into a wider soft veil rather than into a sharp line.

No. This is a modeling chemical product - an enamel weathering effect for weathering models that are already built and painted.
