A themed issue of the modeling magazine The Weathering Aircraft, published by the Spanish brand AMMO of Mig Jimenez. This is a printed publication, not a model and not a kit - you are not buying plastic parts but instructions and photographic procedures. The whole seventeenth issue turns around a single theme: decals and masks, that is, the two ways of getting markings and color transitions onto a model. The text is in English.
Decals and masks are the place where the credibility of the finished model is decided. A badly settled decal with a visible glossy frame, the so-called silvering, spoils even a carefully painted model, and conversely a well unmasked marking can move a model to another level. The choice between a decal and a mask is not obvious either: large areas of marking or pronounced camouflage transitions are often better handled by spraying through a mask, while small technical lettering remains the domain of decals. It is precisely these decision situations that the magazine takes apart on specific examples.
For aircraft modelers who already know the basics of building and painting and want to move the final phase of the work forward. It is useful also for those who still struggle with imperfectly settled decals or with paint seeping under a mask. A passive knowledge of English is assumed - most of the content is, however, led photographically, so you will find your way through the procedures even with a limited vocabulary.
This is a printed magazine. The model, the paints and the decals are not part of it.
