The Weathering Magazine is a series of modeling magazines focused on aging and dirtying models, that is, on the part of the work that turns a cleanly built piece into a machine that looks as though it really served. Each issue keeps to one theme and covers it from several sides: the procedures are taken step by step and accompanied by photographs of models in progress, so you can see what each layer has done to the surface.
Issue 29 carries the theme of green. Green is among the most widespread colors of military vehicles and at the same time among the most treacherous: a large single-color surface easily looks flat and uninteresting, and yet on a real machine it changes with the light, the age of the paint, the dust and the repairs. That is exactly what the contents of the issue deal with.
It suits modelers who can already build and paint a model and want to take the surface finish further. The procedures are explained clearly enough for a beginner to take something away from them as well, and the comparison photographs help to judge the point at which aging is still credible and where a model stops looking like a real machine. The magazine is also good for browsing between builds, because the procedures offered can be applied to models of various categories.
